The Israel-Palestine area today is unrecognizable from the country you would have seen before 1948. Today you will appreciate a modern-day land with a population of over nine million and a skyline full of skyscrapers, apartment buildings, and multi-story offices. These structures now make up the new Israel-Palestine geographical landscape giving it a whole different look.

The geographical landscape changes came about with advancements in water technology. Irrigation was the main change as it allowed brackish water to be used in agriculture and brought human life to the desert. Small towns began to grow into cities, and neighborhoods started to spill out from the existing conurbations.

Other changes contributed to the growth including how the Hebrew language developed further and is now seen in newspapers and books, as well as heard on the radio and in the theater. Changes also can be seen in who lives in these new lands. Some of the smaller settlements that have grown between Arab villages or close to Arab cities have come together for strategic reasons and some for religious choices.

From Gaza to the West Bank to Jerusalem, the people of Palestine and Israel have lived among decades of long clashes. These clashes have been over settlements, statehood, security, and borders. The intractable dispute has claimed thousands of lives and defies resolution.

A quilt of Jews and Arabs now live surrounded by each other. It is not possible to draw a line to divide the groups so there is no way to separate them in a single contiguous territory. With Palestine and Israel remaining in the Jordan Valley, Jews will have to go over areas controlled by the Arabs or Arabs will have to go over areas controlled by the Jewish. Now is the time to create a grand coalition in the region and open a way to global peace.
